JANIYE, 18k-24K Gold, Diamond,Jadite Pendant-Brooch c1970 Unique

A stylish gold, diamond and jadite pendant/brooch by Janiye of Boston. The 2 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ Abstract 18k/24k yellow gold brooch with approximately .75cts of old mine and European cut diamonds framing a 1 1/2″ x 1″ carved oval jade of a stylized floral design. Hand crafted by Miye Matsukata (1922-1981)Matsukata ,born in Tokyo, Japan,she later attended the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston. In 1950 she opened her store, Janiye`, on Newbury Street where she produced studio jewelry until her death in 1981. This piece looks great as a pendant, a brooch or even fastened to a leather bracelet and worn as a cuff (see photo). We also have a pair of matching earrings, designed later, but in a similar style.
